Removal, survey and installation of drums of back brake mechanisms

ALL MODELS, EXCEPT SCENIC

REMOVAL

1. Block forward wheels, then поддомкратьте a back part of the car and establish it on axial props. Remove a back wheel. 2. Using a hammer and the big flat screw-driver, accurately wring out a cover located in the centre of a brake drum (address to an accompanying illustration). 3. Using a head and a long core, ослабьте also remove a nut of a nave of a back wheel. Will throw out a nut - it is subject to replacement. 4. Remove assemblage of a brake drum and bearings of a nave from a rotary pin manually. If to make it it is not possible, or bearings hardly sit on a rotary pin, or a drum подтормаживается brake колодками. In the first case knock on drum periphery киянкой or use a universal stripper, having attached it to a drum wheel bolts. In the second case operate as follows. 5. At first be convinced that the manual brake is completely let out. Working under the car, block resulting draught of a manual brake, ослабьте a counternut of a regulator of a rope and turn away an adjusting nut of the equalizer (address to the Head Maintenance service). Notice that on some models to get access to an adjusting nut, it is necessary to turn on at first fixing nuts and to lower теплоизоляционный a board of final system. 6a. Insert a screw-driver through one of apertures under a wheel bolt in a brake drum to reach the working lever of a manual brake on conducted brake колодке (address to illustrations). 6b. Push the lever so that Pads have departed from a drum as far as possible. 6c. Remove a drum and pull together распорную a lining from a rotary pin.

REMOVAL

Remove a back wheel. 3. Turn away two screws, fastening a drum to a nave of a back wheel, and remove a drum. SURVEY

1. Accurately remove from a drum a dust formed as a result of deterioration колодок, trying not to inhale it as it is unhealthy. 2. Clear an outer side of a drum and examine it on presence of damages and deterioration signs; replace a drum if it is necessary. 3. Attentively examine an internal surface of a drum. Presence of superficial scratches on a rubbing surface is quite admissible, but if deep grooves are found out, replace a drum. Usually at internal edge of a drum the ledge consisting of a mix of a rust and a dust, formed as a result of deterioration колодок is formed. This outgrowth it is necessary to scratch out and grind the bared surface a small emery paper. If difference of a thickness was formed because of deterioration of a rubbing surface, переточите a drum, considering the limiting value of a thickness specified in Specifications, or replace it. 4. If you suspect that the drum is worn excessively out or became oval, measure its internal diameter in several places, using an internal micrometer. Gaugings should be executed on perpendicular to each other axes to define ovality of drums. Insignificant ovality can be eliminated a repoint if ovality is excessive, replace a drum.

INSTALLATION

1. If the new brake drum is established, use suitable solvent to remove from its internal part a sheeting. 2. Be convinced that the terminator of the lever of a manual brake costs at edge brake Pads. Put on a rotary pin a small amount of lubricating oil and establish on it распорную a lining and a drum, trying not to soil with oil Pads or a rubbing surface of a drum. Press a brake pedal some times that has worked the self-regulated jack of a backlash. 3. Repeat the procedure described above on assemblage of the second back brake. 4. Remove a brake drum and adjust a manual brake as it is described in Section Adjustment of a manual brake. 5a. Place a drum into position, then establish a washer (where it is applied) and a new nut of a nave. 5b. Tighten a nut the effort resulted in Specifications, and establish a nave cap. 6. In summary, establish a wheel, lower the car on the earth and tighten wheel bolts the effort resulted in Specifications.

INSTALLATION
