Check, removal and installation of the gauge of temperature of a cooling liquid

For serviceability check the ohmmeter is required.

 CHECK

1. On engine F8Q 620, the gauge has two functions. The resistor with negative temperature factor gives the block of management of system of heating the information on temperature of a cooling liquid, and the switch interrupts food giving on the electromagnetic valve recycling the fulfilled gases. On engines F8Q with turbocharger and F9Q, the gauge has only one function - informs ECU systems of injection the information on temperature of a cooling liquid. In both cases, the gauge at first is necessary for removing as it is described more low, and then it can be checked.
2. On engine F8Q 620, attach an ohmmeter to contacts 1 and 4 sockets of the gauge. At a room temperature resistance should be infinite, i.e. thermoswitch contacts are opened.
3. Then adhere to the gauge a twine and lower it in capacity with water (it should not concern walls or a capacity bottom). Ship the thermometer in water and start it to heat up. Check up, that thermoswitch contacts remained opened to 20°С and have become isolated at temperature 30°С. At the closed contacts, the ohmmeter should show zero resistance.
4. On all engines, attach an ohmmeter to plugs 2 and 3 switches (on engine F9Q there are only two plugs). Heat up water and be convinced that resistance of the thermoresistor (the gauge of temperature of a cooling liquid) is according to the data resulted in Specifications.
5. If the received results are not satisfactory, the switch is faulty and should be replaced.


Remove a temperature-sensitive element only from the cold engine.


 REMOVAL

1. The gauge is attached to a thermostat casing, on a left-hand side of a head of the block of cylinders. It has a black socket on engine F8Q, or white - on engine F8Q with turbocharger.
2. Merge a liquid from cooling system as Maintenance service is described in the Head. Alternatively, prepare the new gauge or approaching заглушку quickly to cork an aperture and prevent вытекание liquids.
3. Disconnect a socket, then turn away the gauge. Remove a sealing ring.


 INSTALLATION

1. Make installation upside-down, use a new sealing ring.
