MODELS WITH ENGINE E7J

The majority of malfunctions in ignition system can be because of the weakened or polluted connections more often. Always carefully check all electroconducting before starting to check an electric component.
The old method of check of a spark of ignition when the bared end of a wire of a high voltage is kept on short distance from the engine, is not recommended; you risk not only to receive blow by a current, but also to damage high-voltage conducting of the coil of ignition. In the same way never try to diagnose ignition admissions, removing on one wires of a high voltage.

The engine is not started

 CHECK

1. If the engine is not turned in general or turned very slowly, check up the accumulator and a starter.
2. If the engine is turned with normal speed, but not started, check up a high-voltage chain, connecting a stroboscope (according to the instruction of the manufacturer) and turning the engine a starter; if there is a luminescence, pressure reaches spark plugs, means at first check up candles. If no light is present, check up high voltage wires, a distributor cover, a coal brush and бегунок the distributor, using the information presented in the Head Maintenance service.
3. If the spark still is not present, check up resistance of primary and secondary windings of the coil of ignition as it is described later in this Section; replace the ignition coil if it is necessary, but be cautious, attentively check up a condition of low-voltage connections.
4. If as a result of these checks a cause of defect it was not possible to find out, it is necessary to address on HUNDRED Renault. The socket of electroconducting of the block is included in a chain of a control system by the engine where it is possible to connect the special electronic diagnostic device. By means of this device it is possible quickly and to define malfunction simply. If it is necessary, electroconducting of system and sockets can be checked up as the Onboard electric equipment is described in the Head. Watch that sockets of electroconducting ECU at first have been separated.

Ignition admissions

 CHECK

1. Irregular admissions of ignition can be because of the weakened connections or unstable contact in a low voltage chain, or because of malfunction of a high-voltage chain on the party бегунка the distributor.
2. Switch off ignition and attentively check up all system, watch that all connections were pure and reliably fixed. If there is an equipment, check up a low-voltage chain as it is described above.
3. Be convinced that a low voltage chain, a cover of the distributor and a high voltage wire pure and dry. Check up wires and spark plugs (replacement if it is necessary), then check up a distributor cover, a coal brush and бегунок the distributor.
4. Regular admissions of ignition (petrol engines) are possible more often because of malfunction in a distributor cover, wires of a high voltage or spark plugs. By means of a stroboscope (above) check up, whether there is a high voltage on all wires.
5. If the high voltage is not present on one wire, malfunction will be either in the wire or in a distributor cover. If the high voltage is available on all wires, malfunction will be in spark plugs; check up and replace them if doubt concerning a condition.
6. If the high voltage is not present, check up high-voltage conducting of the coil of ignition; the secondary winding can collapse because of an overload.

MODELS WITH ENGINE K7M, F3R AND F7R

 CHECK

1. Check up ignition system as it is described ввыше, ignoring references to a cover and бегунок the distributor on all engines, and also on ВВ wires of spark plugs on engine F7R.
